Macho image
Sir, —I hope the Minister of Justice, Mr Palmer, can convince the Cabinet, that the advertising'' campaign attacking the New Zealand male’s macho image, recommended by the Roper Inquiry into violent crime, is worthfinancial support Mr Palmer is concerned that such a campaign may not gain .public support I; am sure there are many people who would support such a move. For example, parents who worry about their teenagers on the roads; families who . suffer domestic violence from men who have not learned to “talk it out* rather than act it out”; and the* general public, who do not feel safe on our streets any more. If the vast bulk of violent crime is committed by males aged between 15 and 24 years, I think.’ education through the medium of television deserves support. — Yours, etc, ! . CLARE HARDY. May 5, 1987.
