Coca-Cola signs

Sir, —I write to express concern at the increasing number of dairies and country stores which have accepted a deal by a softdrink manufacturer which involves advertising their product in exchange for a free paint job. Nothing wrong with that, perhaps, except that the paint is a particularly vulgar bright blood red. In the past a drive in the country held many delights not the least of which was a stop at a quaint, picturesque, often colonial style store. Not so today. Am I alone in. finding this rather sad? — Yours, etc., ROLY HAMMOND. March 30, 1987.
