Schools volleyball
The sorting out process continued at great pace when the national secondary schools’ volleyball tournament entered the qualifying stage at Pioneer Stadium yesterday. In the boys’ section Western Heights, Tauranga, St Paul’s and Porirua are all unbeaten after the first series of games. Three Christchurch schools, Hillmorton, Hornby, and Shirley, still have a chance to earn semi-final places on Saturday. Kawerau and Otumoetai, two Bay of Plenty sides, have revealed impressive form in the girls’ matches, with Otahuhu and Hillmorton. also making their presence felt.
