PA Wellington The Pope’s New Zealand visit suffered a loss of $300,000, mainly because too few copies of a souvenir booklet were sold, said the financial director, Mr Gordon Copeland, yesterday. He said that only 48,000 booklets were sold — less than’ half the expected number. While sales of the booklet covered the costs of printing, they did not raise the expected extra money. “In retrospect, we greatly overestimated,” Mr Copeland said.
