Tax relief for farmers
PA Wellington Farmers in parts of the northern North Island who were forced to sell livestock because of last summer’s drought may qualify for tax relief, says the Government. The relief will apply in Waikato and Piako counties, the Mangaiti riding of Ohinemuri County, the Patetonga and Kihere ridings of Hauraki Plains County, and Matamata County north of State highway 29. The ’ Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, said the Inland Revenue Department would help farmers wanting to know if they qualified for tax relief.
