Power Bunny for Southland stud

Special correspondent Invercargill Power Bunny, a six-year-old son of BG’s Bunny, which took a record of 1:55 and has won over $400,000 in stakes, is the latest standardbred sire acquired for Southland next season. A former grand circuit two-year-old and three-year-old, he is one of the few sires imported this year by the vast National Bloodstock Corporation. Power Bunny is to stand at Mr Ross Dyne’s Ryal Park Stud, Ryal Bush, as a replacement for Del Cavallo, another sire owned by the National Bloodstock Corporation, which

is to be relocated. “Power Bunny is to stand at only $BOO — if he can’t get a full book at that bargain fee, then the stud business isn’t worth being in,” Mr Dynes said yesterday. Power Bunny is still racing in Canada and is scheduled to leave for New Zealand in a few weeks. As a two-year-old, the BG’s Bunny horse took a record 1:59.2 and earned $45,000. He won $200,178 and lowered his record to 1:55.2 as a three-year-old. “I am delighted to be associated with National Bloodstock in a venture which represents such

great value for Southland breeders and I can assure there are no catches” he added.

BG’s Bunny, the sire of Power Bunny, is one of Albatross’s greatest performers and sires. Stock by BG’s Bunny won $4,839,826 in North America. Last year, they earned $4,557,505. Power Bunny is out of Betsey T Adios, a daughter of the Adios horse, Greentree Adios, whose stock in North America are renowned for their tough and durable qualities.

Power Bunny boasts a strain of Volomite (sire of Light Brigade).
