Miki-chan had banzai spirit

NZPA-AFP Tokyo A cat separated from its owners walked for 19 months across Japan to return home, the “Asahi Shimbun” newspaper reported. Miki-Chan, a five-year-old cat, had accompanied the Suga family in a box on a train trip to the birthplace of Mrs Miyoko Suga in August, 1985. The family crossed Japan from east to west, going from Hiratsuka on the Pacific Ocean to the Itoigawa on the Sea of Japan. On arrival in Itoigawa, the cat fled and the Suga family had to leave without her. She was considered lost until February 9, 1987, when its owner spotted her in the garden, looking thin, with a ripped ear and a wounded tail. In one year and Seven months, Miki had covered 370 km on a route blocked by mountain ranges.
