Emphasis on leaders

PA ’ Wellington The insatiable demand for professional managers and administrators in the present expansionist climate of world business will be emphasised at an international conference in Rotorua this weekend. The conference is organised by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators which is celebrating its golden jubilee year. The conference would make clear the increasing demand worldwide for better management skills and professionalism in business, the president of the New Zealand division of the Institute, Mr Pat Waite, said. He believed the variety of topics to be discussed at the conference illustrated the range of issues of concern to managers.

Among these topics are Evaluating Entrepeneurial Thinking, (Mr Michael Fay, managing director of Fay, Richwhite and Co, Ltd), Dynamic Corporate Planning (Mr Richard Adams, general manager, Chase Corporation, Ltd), and Humanising the Workplace (Mr Leonard Ring, ergonomist, University of Auckland). Sir Paul Reeves, opened the conference yesterday and the keynote speaker is the managing director of Air New Zealand, Mr Norman Geary. The president of the institute, Mr Ben Power, group company secretary of W. and R. Jacob, will be among a large group of senior British, Asian and Australian businessmen attending the conference.
