Full range of traditional rural servicing offered

The Christchurch branch business of Elders Pastoral was founded on the acquisition of Hodder and Tolley and the Canterbury Seed Company, both having been old respected companies with deep tradition and strong ties with the Canterbury farming community. Additional services have been progressively added to this base, and although the existing services provided are in their infancy, a full range

of traditional rural servicing activities is now offered.

In 1986, Eiders appointed its first livestock salesman, and today representatives are based in Cheviot, Culverden, Rangiora, Darfield and Christchurch, servicing Canterbury from the Rakaia River, Banks Peninsula through to Kaikoura. Specialists are also based in Christchurch to service the rapidly expanding deerandgoat

fanning sector. Real estate activities have also been expanded, and under the guidance of real estate manager, Mr Rod Cameron, a complete rural sales service is offered throughout North Canterbury, as well as an urban sales service throughout Christchurch city and adjacent residential areas.

The past strong ties with the arable farming sector have not been forgotten and although arable farming is having its difficulties at present, Elders faith in this essential farming sector is demonstrated by its increased representation in this field by the appointment of Mr Alan Fraser at Rangiora. He has

brought a wealth of specialised knowledge to Elders as the support shown to him by clients both old and new demonstrates.

The agency at Belfast is an integral part of Elders’ Canterbury operation. This is supervised by Mr Lawson Shepherd, who is no stranger to most of North Canterbury having spent most of his working life in the district. In addition to servicing North Canterbury fanners, specialist services are provided for market gardeners and horticulturalists. A full range of general merchandise is also stocked.
