Uniform rebel enrolled
PA Wellington lan Reddie, the Naenae College third-form pupil who was suspended for not wearing a uniform, is studying by correspondence. Mrs Carol Reddie said yesterday she had enrolled her son in the Correspondence School and he would continue taking lessons by correspondence until the impasse over the uniform was resolved. lan’s father, Mr lan Reddie, has refused to buy a uniform. He believes the cost should be borne by the school. The Naenae College board of governors confirmed the decision of the principal, Mr Bruce Murray, to suspend lan Reddie earlier this year for not wearing a uniform.
Mrs Reddle said she and her husband wanted their son to go to Naenae College and they were gathering support from parents for a change in the school regulations to make a uniform optional.
