War scholarship
The Ministry of Defence will award two annual scholarships, worth $25,000 each, for the Australian National University’s graduate programme in strategic studies.
The courses cover various forms of conflict, nonmilitary aspects of national security, causes of war, crisis management, arms control, and disarmament.
Regional security is covered as it affects Australia and New Zealand, South-East Asia, and the Pacific and Indian oceans.
The courses lead either to a graduate diploma or a master’s degree.
Universities will be invited to nominate graduates for the first two scholarships, which will be awarded for the 1988 study year.
