Impressive medal haul
Canterbury’s synchronised swimming team returned from the New Zealand championships held at Hamilton at the weekend with an impressive haul of medals. Nicola Glintmeyer won a gold medal in the novice section, a feat repeated by Louise Cherrie in the 12 years and under section and Jeanine Marriott in the 15-17 years section. Luan Fraser finished second behind Marriott while Michelle Cherrie
took the bronze medal in the 13-14 years section. Michelle Cherrie and Sharyn Kilgour, performing their duet routine for the first time, took the silver medal in the 13-14 years duet section. Louise Cherrie had good reason to be satisfied with her performance. She bettered the qualifying standard for the Australian championships and will travel with the New Zealand team to Brisbane next month.
