Wilder moth to return to former club
Tony Wildermoth, the most prolific goal-kicker in Canterbury inter-club rugby league last winter, will return to the Marist-Western Suburbs club this season. The former Junior Kiwi has contributed 250 points to Papanui’s cause over the last two years, and is the holder of the Turner and Le Brun Cup for most goals in the 1986 premiership. In the two seasons prior to transferring to Papanui, Wildermoth had aggregates of 138 and 152 for Marist-West-ern.
Although he shared the goal-kicking duties with a former New Zealand fullback, Michael O’Donnell, for a time, Wildermoth’s premier career total is a commendable 673 points. Wildermoth, aged 25, made eight appearances for Canterbury and three for South Island between 1983 and 1985, and has proved
himself to be equally proficient at a stand-off half and full-back.
