Impersonation goes hilariously awry
“Offbeat” (PG) is a new release on the Touchstone Home Video label.
In this outrageous romantic comedy, Judge Reinhold (from “Beverly Hills Cop”) plays Joe Gower, an oddball librarian who impersonates a policeman as a favour for his friend in the New York Police Department.
The impersonation goes hilariously awry when Joe falls in love with one of “New York’s finest,” beautiful policewoman Rachel Wareham (played by Meg Tilly, Oscar nominee for “Agnes of God"). Mistaken identities, on-the-beat misfortunes and impromptu mayhem make “Offbeat” an arresting comedy.
