Fatal crash near tunnel
One person died and five were injured in a multiple road accident near the Lyttelton road tunnel last evening.
Two cars and two motor-cycles were in collision at 9.45 p.m. at the
Tunnel Road turn-off to Port Hills Road. Five persons were taken to Christchurch Hospital, two of them with serious injuries. A woman had suffered serious injuries to the head, abdomen and a leg, while a
man had serious leg injuries. A man had moderate injuries and two women had minor injuries. The police were unable to give names last evening.
