Call against crime
Christchurch’s police chief, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Emmett Mitten, has called on the public and community kiosk volunteers to help stamp out crime in the city. Within a week of his promising a strong stand against crime, seven seri-
ous violent offences, including one homicide, have been reported. Speaking to more than 100 police kiosk volunteers on Thursday" evening, Mr Mitten said that crime could only be reduced with the help of the public and the work of commj»ity volunteers.
