Ferries to stop
PA Wellington Cook Strait ferries will be victims of Monday’s planned strike by waterside workers, said a Railways spokesman. Searail’s manager, Mr Ivan Gough, said that no ferry would sail on Monday.
"We regret very much the disruption to all our customers, both passengers and freight, but it is totally outside Railways’ control,” he said. The first sailings after the stoppage will be 5.40 a.m. from Picton and 8 a.m. from Wellington on Tuesday.
