Obituary Col. Brian Hall
PA Wellington The Former New Zealand defence attache to Indonesia, Colonel Brian Hall, has died after a short illness. He was 42. Colonel Hall served in Malaysia and was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in Vietnam. He had been in the Army for 21 years, since enlisting in October, 1965. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1966 in the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, was an instructor at the Jungle Warfare Centre, in Johore state, 4k
Malaysia, and served as a company commander in the Ist Battalion, R.N.Z.I.R. in Singapore in 1978. Colonel Hall attended the Malaysian staff college in Kuala Lumpur before becoming an instructor at the New Zealand Army Tactical School, and later a headquarters staff officer. He attended the Indonesian staff college before becoming defence attache in Jakarta, where he was stationed when he fell ill recently. Colonel Hall was married, with-two teenage children. +
