Army men help sick children
Troops who ran, cycled and canoed 2000 km throughout the South Island earlier this year raised $12,000 for disabled and seriously ill children. The Burnham Camp’s No. 2 Battalion team have given the money to the Cancer Society and Koru Care, a charitable trust which runs annual trips to Disneyland for seriously ill children. The secretary or Koru Care, Mrs Wilma Gillian, said public support for the triathlon had been appreciated. “Public support and sponsorship of this venture made the tremendous result possible, and we are very grateful to all who participated,” she said.
