Trial under lights
The new Canterbury rugby coach, Doug Bruce, has called for a trial match before he names his first squad for the season. It will be a night game at Rugby Park on Tuesday, March 24. The game will, in fact, be the first official game under the new lights at Rugby Park.
The week-end after the trial Canterbury will play its usual season opener, against a Temuka Invitation XV at Temuka, and two weeks later it gets down to the serious business of defending its AGC South Pacific title. Mr Bruce is expected to name his trial teams early next week.
