Imran leads team off the field

NZPA-Reuter Ahmedabad The Pakistan captain, Imran Khan, led his team off the field in protest on Sundayafter they had been showered with missiles from the crowd on the fourth day of the fourth cricket test.

Play was suspended shortly before tea after some enthusiastic spectators ran on to the field to celebrate a century by the Indian batsman, Dilip Vengsarkar.

At the same time, other spectators threw stones and bottles at the Pakistani field-

ers. Imran, who protested previously to the umpires about the crowd’s behaviour, said his team would not resume play till the authorities made better arrangements to control the crowd.

The only Indian wicket to fall after lunch was that of Ravi Shastri, who was caught by Iqbal Qasim off Mansoor Elahi for 15. Scores: Pakistan first innings 395, India 290 for six (Dilip Vengsarkar 105 not out).
