Economy ‘frightening’
New Zealand faced a disastrous economic situation, said the National member of Parliament for Fendalton, Mr Philip Burdon, last evening. He was commenting on remarks by the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, that he did not know how long the economy would take to adjust to the Government’s financial poll-
cies. “Disastrous and quite frightening economic indicators are beginning to emerge — and are being met with ad hoc responses. This Minister has totally failed to come to terms with the situation,” Mr Burdon said. “New Zealand deserves a serious economic debate,” he said.
