Redundancy dispute
A dispute between H and H Travel Lines and its Christchurch employees has been settled after talks yesterday. The company called last week for 12 volunteers for redundancy, almost half of the workforce of drivers, engineers and clerical workers. Yesterday, after discussions with the three
unions involved, the company offered jobs within the Mount Cook Group, which bought H and H last October, to some of its employees. Drivers over 60 years of age would not be found jobs but their union would negotiate severance pay for them, said an organiser for the Engineers’ Union, Mr Tim Arthur.
