Candidate selected
PA Wellington A former Tauranga City councillor and mayoral candidate, Mrs Jenny Seddon, will be the Labour Party’s candidate for Tauranga in this year’s General Election.
Mrs Seddon, a member of the City Council for 12 years before stepping down before last October’s local body elections, was the only nomination.
Her selection was approved at a meeting of the Tauranga party electorate.
The seat was held for National in 1984 by Mr Winston Peters with a majority of 4912.
