That’s That tough rival
That’s That indicated he will prove a much tougher rival for Megatrend in the $25,000 National Bloodstock Three-year-old Championship on the final night of the InterDominion carnival after his gutsy win over talented older performers, Star King, Sun Lover and Lord Lenny, at Addington on Saturday. The 16.2 hands son of Clever Innocence was a battling fifth behind Megatrend in age group company on the first night — his first start for three weeks — and he looked much improved
as a result of that outing in the C 4 and C 5 InterIsland Horse Transport Mobile Pace. Robert Dunn and That’s That leading soon after the start then trailed Guard of Honour. Just inside the 800 m, Lord Lenny, the $1.65 win favourite, turned on the horsepower from the fourth line and was dashing clear of Guard of Honour off the back straight with 550 metres left. After being timed over that second-last 400 m from back in the field in a sensational 26.7 s split, 1 Lord Lenny had the field
stretched rounding the home turn, however, disaster struck for the black Lordship gelding on straightening up when he stumbled and tangled for a few strides. That’s That had worked into the open at i the 200 m and finished i purposefully to shade Star King by half a neck at the end of the 2600 m mobile in 3:18.25. Sun Lover, handy on i the outer, fought on for third half a length away, with Lord Lenny, recoi vering his gait and i fighting back for a close , fourth, a nose I away.
