Moscow’s intentions
Sir, —Mr Sazanov’s article on Soviet intentions (March 4) is revealing. Undoubtedly they want to see the Pacific a peaceful ocean — their way. Mr Sazanov claims that there has not been a single case of hostile actions by Soviet ships. He should try telling that to our Japanese friends. The Soviet imperialists continue to practise genocide in Afghanistan and still occupy integral parts of China and Japan as well as the Muslim lands of Turkistan and Trans Caucasia. They have no business in the Pacific or Indian Oceans and their very presence causes offence. Anyone Vvith a genuine love for the Russian or other subject peoples of the U.S.S.R. must oppose the Soviet system and pray for their freedom. Smooth words and smiling faces from Moscow will carry little conviction until we can see meaningful deeds and not just cosmetic gestures. — Yours, etc., J. S. PALLOT. March 3, 1987.
