9 killed in plane accident
NZPA-Reuter Detroit
Nine people were killed and 20 injured yesterday when a twin-engined commuter aircraft burst into flames on landing and ran into a truck at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, the police said.
The nine who died were passengers on the Northwest Airlink twin-engined turboprop arriving from Ohio.
The injured included six crew members, four passengers and 10 people who were on the ground, they said. The injured were taken to three nearby hospitals to be treated for burns and other injuries. Lights were brought into the crash area to continue the investigation through the night, Wayne County Sheriff Robert Ficano told Reuters.
