Cardiac unit submissions
The Canterbury Hospital Board will send further written submissions to the Minister of Health on the provision of a limited cardiac surgery unit in Christchurch.
Representatives of the board met the Minister last week to discuss the future of cardiac surgery in Canterbury. The Lang committee review on cardiac surgery
recommended late last year , that Canterbury receive no Government funding for a cardiac unit but should investigate the provision of a limited bypass unit using its own funds.
