Five clean schools
The five cleanest primary schools for 1986 have been named by the Christchurch Civic Pride Campaign. Hoon Hay Primary, Ferndale, Linwood Avenue Primary, Freeville Primary, and Our Lady of Fatima School topped the five city wards in the campaign’s “Clean School” competition. Twenty-five schools took part in the competi-
tlon. Each was visited unannounced by an inspector from the Christchurch City Council, who made a litter count.
Because some schools have tended to dominate the competition, a new format will be introduced this year, making the 1986 winners ineligible for the general competition but eligible for a “Top Five" contest.
