Cindy Edler takes the strain in the women’s section of the D.B. strongman wrestling Challenge at the Carlton Hotel on Tuesday evening. Edler was one of hundreds who entered the competition at the hotel. She won her first round. The challenge is nationwide and is divided into 11 areas. Regional finals from the Canterbury area, which stretches from Waimate to Kaikoura, are being held in a Christchurch hotel on April 8. The winnerswill go forward to the national finals in Auckland in late May. The winner from the open grade in the national final wins a trip to the United States to compete in the world arm wrestling championships.
