Programme switch

The 30,000 people who do not receive Television Two will always miss

something until enough money is found to extend coverage to their areas, says the head of production and programming for Television New Zealand, Mr Des Monaghan. Commenting on concern expressed about the shift of the children’s programmes to TV2, Mr Monaghan said the change was a result of a national audience survey which showed a strong

preference for putting sport on TVI. “To stop disruption of the children’s programmes it was necessary to shift them to TV2. Whatever way we move there will always be 30,000 people who miss out and may have their particular area of interest affected,” he said. “The survey was aimed at improving the service, and this course of action causes the least disruption over all.”
