A two-storey family home in a 2.0234 ha (5 acres) setting was passed in when it was offered at auction on Wednesday, February 18.
Bidding on site failed to reach the reserve price. The “Femside” property at No. 3 Drain Road offered features such as a long sweeping drive, four bedrooms and a kitchen in an authentic period style. Surrounding land was welldrained loam, well-fenced and with a good water supply. Outbuildings include a new 40ft x 30ft goat shearing shed, tack room and garaging for 3-4 vehicles.
A substantial number of parties attended the auction, reflecting the high degree of interest in the property. Although the reserve was not reached several private treaty
arrangement inquiries have been made.
Two adjoining properties at 114 and 116 Chester Street, East, were passed in when bidding failed to reach the reserve price. The auction was held on Wednesday, February 18, at the rooms of Warwick Todd, Ltd. Descriptions of the two properties were as follows: — 114 Chester St; a spacious two-storey home of 3 living rooms, 3 bedrooms, modern kitchen and 2 bathrooms.
The decoration style of the home was believed to lend itself to making the property into professional offices.
No. 116 Chester Street was a two-storey residence converted into three self-contained flats in sound condition. All three flats were tenanted and had been recently painted.
