Dollars from charity golf
Thousands of dollars have been raised for the ' Cholmondeley Children’s Home as a result of the charity golf classic at Coringa over the last six years.
The seventh event at Coringa on Sunday will again raise funds for this worthy cause, and one of the organisers, Wayne Bartlett, is thrilled at the response of sponsors, the best of any year.
Mr Bartlett is almost embarrassed at the glittering array of prizes donated to the classic.
The prize list will be lengthy for the 18-hole informal tournament. Positions are still available in both the morning and afternoon draws. Entries for the stableford tournament will be accepted at the Coringa Country Club this week.
The entry fee is $l6, and that includes a meal. Also on Sunday is the second Westpac Hagley open which offers prizes worth between $5OOO and $6OOO. The tournament is over 24 holes, the 12-hole Hagley course is played twice, and the winner last year, Russell Start, who won in a play-off after he and Lucky Starr had scored 98, is expected to defend his title.
