Harmonic choir season begins
Haydn and Handel will feature ■ in • the Christchurch Harmonic Choir’s first subscription series concert.
The concert will be held in the Christchurch Town Hall on March 14. Handel’s “O Praise the Lord with One Consent” and “The King shall Rejoice” will be featured, with Haydn’s “Mass in a Time of War.”

September will see special celebrations as the choir marks its sixtieth birthday. A function will be held for past and present choir members. A former conductor, Bill
Hawkey, plans to visit and will bring with him the Canberra School of Music Choir to take part in the celebrations.
The anniversary weekend will include a performance of Elgar’s “Dream of Gerontius,” conducted by John Hopkins. Christopher Doig, Nel Huizer and Roger Wilson will be the soloists.
In December the choir will perform Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio.” Wendy Dixon, Judy Bellingham, Edmund Bohan and Roger Wilson will be the soloists. Later in the month the choir will hold its annual family carol concert.
The choir is again seeking new subcribers for its concert series.
