Rivalry and betrayal
“Forever Young” (M)is one of two released this month from Cannon Screen Entertainment.
This moving and manyfaceted love story of rivalry and betrayal, comes from the pen of Ray Connolly, screenwriter of “That’ll Be The Day” and “Stardust.”
As teenagers in the early sixties, Michael and Jimmy were inseparable — until a girl came between them. When they meet again 20 years later, Michael has become a priest and Jimmy a university lecturer. While their friendship revives, so do old rivalries, which are now centred around an attractive young mother and her son. It is a film about broken dreams, remembered betrayals and the loss of innocence, with a soundtrack of some of the greatest songs of the ’Fifties and ’Sixties.
“Forever Young” stars James Aubrey, Nicholas Geeks and Karen
and is produced by David Puttnam, who was also responsible for the box office successes “The Killing Fields” and “Chariots of Fire.”
Also released by Cannon this month is the horror movie “Howling II” (R), starring Christopher Lee, Annie McEnroe, Reb Brown, Marsha A. Hunt and Sybil Danning. At the funeral of his sister Karen, Ben discovers the sickening truth about the circumstances of her death. Brutally assaulted by a werewolf, she herself has been turned into the halfhuman beast and even now her soul does not rest
in peace. Though he is now in great danger, Ben undertakes the perilous journey to. the heart of the werewolf country, a remote village in Spain, and a confrontation with the leader of the pack, La Bruja — the witch. “Howling H" is directed by Philippe Mora and runs for 91 minutes.
