Jane Gordon, aged 18, is escorted by. her mother, Mrs Ngawara Gordon, and her brother, lan, aged 16, in the Crippled Children Society fun run yesterday.* The family comes from Oxford.
About 700 people took part in the run yesterday, raising about $BOO. The event was being held for the sixth year and the chairman of the organising committee, Mr Ivan Hawkey, said
the response was pleasing considering the variety of events staged in Christchurch yesterday. Among the runners were wheelchair athletes, and 27 soldiers from Burnham braved
the hot conditions In full uniform. Runners had a choice of three courses, 134 km, 9.7 km add 4.3 km, the run starting and finishing at Marine Parade, New Brighton.
