Govt offers liaison on works bill
Wellington reporter . The Government has offered to talk with the Contractors’ Federation about its opposition to the new Public Works legislation. This follows up fullpage advertisements (“The Press,” February 16) taken by the federation to outline -its grievances. Close liaison was being maintained with the fedration, said the Minister of Works, Mr Colman, He was asked in Parliament why he had failed to honour his commitment to the Contractors* Federation annual conference on August 6, 1986, that he would set up a liaison committee of the Ministry of Works and the federation for consultation' on the Public Works Amendment Bill now before the House. Mr Colman said he had not referred to the bill in his speech but had offered liaison on all matters of mutual interest The full-page advertisement from the federation did not correctly represent the facts, he said.
