Air-cargo talks

The international aircargo firm, Emery Worldwide, has had discussions on an air-freight link between New Zealand and the west coast of the United States. The chairman and chief executive of Emery Worldwide, Mr John Emery, was in New Zealand last week. Mr Emery was hedging his bets on whether the service would be flown by his own company, in conjunction with Air New Zealand, or with another airline flying into New Zealand. Mr Emery said he had informal discussions in New Zealand and believes reaction to the joint venture will be favourable. “If a joint venture with an established air carrier doesn’t happen, we’ll look at our options and do our own thing,” Mr Emery said. Emery Worldwide has already made application to fly its own aircraft into New Zealand through Rosenbalm Aviation, the

American company contracted to Emery to fly and maintain its fleet of more than 70 aircraft.
