Grant for Polydrug trust

The Polydrug Centre Trust in Christchurch has received a $60,000 grant from the Justice Department, the Minister of Justice, Mr Palmer, said yesterday. The grant was one of five made by the depart-
ment from its community programme fund to allow community organisations to set up programmes for offenders serving sentences of community care and supervision or for those on parole.
Mr Palmer said that the grants were the first made from the fund and
would meet the establishment costs faced by the community groups. Running costs. would be funded from mother sources..
The key to the success of community-based/ sentences lay in the part played by such groups, Mr Palmer said. ■■ ■
