Men remanded

Two men facing charges of kidnapping and aggravated robbery were remanded to the end of March for depositions to be taken.

Wayne Levitt Christopher Hapi. aged 21. a labourer (Mr B. Callaghan) was appearing before Judge Hay in the District Court yesterday.

He was remanded in custody. The alleged co-of-fender, appeared in the Children and Young Persons Court After the initial appearance in court last week, and as a result of police inquiries, it was found that the co-offender was under 17 and should have appeared in the Children’s Court

The pair are jointly charged with unlawfully detaining Blair Robert Souden by duress for ransom, and that while armed with a knife they robbed him of $lO.

SHOTGUN CHARGE Two men charged with the unlawful possession of a loaded sawn-off, semiautomatic shotgun, and ammunition, at Kaiapoi, were remanded in custody.

Anthony Charles O’Mahoney, aged 24, unemployed (Mr Emo Bedo) was remanded to April 7 for a defended hearing. Edward Mohi Huria, aged 30, a process worker, was remanded until February 25. Police say the alleged offending took place early yesterday.
