REGISTRATION OF INTEREST THE GREAT BARRIER ISLAND NOISE RANGE UPGRADE APPLICATIONS are invited from companies interested in tendering for the contract to upgrade the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) Noise Range. The RNZN requires the existing experimental noise range situated on the east coast of Great Barrier Island, to be upgraded to permanent status. This range will be used for the measurement of underwater acoustic noise radiated from naval vessels and must have the capabilities of; a. detecting vessel and class defects b, measuring vessel noise status to enable assessment of the; (1) liability to detection by surveillance devices such as passive loss frequency arrays; and (2) vulnerability to torpedoes and acoustic mines. Firms interested in registering their interest should provide the following: a. Details of any similar work they have performed for established and recognised New Zealand or foreign authorities or Navies. b. Details of Company security clearances c. General outline on their approach to this type of project, and possible timescales Involved; and d. Brief outline of company background and re- , sources. A short list of suitable prospective tenderers will be selected from those responding to this Invitation. Those companies on the shortlist will be invited to submit proposals based on the RNZN Draft User Requirements. It should be noted that this invitation Is preparatory to the Issue of the request for proposals and the RNZN Draft User Requirements will only be sent to those companies on the shortlist.
