Tourism team to go to South America

PA Wellington A New Zealand tourism promotion mission will visit South America in April, said a Tourist and Publicity Department spokesman, Mr David Ricquish. Mr Ricquish, the department’s executive officer for Asia and developing markets, said the department, Aerolineas Argentines, and four or five tour wholesalers would make the visit, which would pave the way for a bigger tourism mission next year. Between 12 and 15

people would be involved in the April mission. Mr Ricquish said he hoped it would include a Maori concert party.. He said Argentina would be the prime target for the mission, as most of New Zealand’s visitors from South America came from there.

The trip would coincide with a major tourism conference in Mexico and the group also planned to visit Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario in Argentina and Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. ‘
