Education on disability
PA Wellington Plans for an education programme on disability awareness in primary schools have been announced by the Crippled Children Society. The programme is designed to raise the level of knowledge and understanding of the various disabilities able-bodied children come Into con-
tact with both at school
and in their communities.
The alm is to show that people are different in different ways — cultural, linguistic, physical, educational capabilities, intellectually handicapped — but that every one is part of society and can contribute in their own way.
The programme .will start soon with three teams based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
