Mixes for microwave
With an estimated 25 per cent of New Zealanders now owning microwave ovens, a range of special microwave products are beginning to emerge. Eta Foods has released a range of microwave
sponge puddings and cake mixes from Australia.
Eta says traditional mixes are not suitable for microwave ovens and tend to dry out quickly. The new mixes have a packet time of seven minutes, although a
Christchurch firm says they can be baked in five minutes. The seven cake mixes include carrot cake and fruit cake, while the six sponge puddings range from apricot to blackberry to the traditional butterscotch.
