‘Navigator’ film to be N.Z.-Aust. production
PA Wellington A New Zealand feature film, “The Navigator,” shelved last year because of the Government’s tax regime, has been resurrected as a co-production with Australia. It will be the first coproduction of a feature film between the two countries.
With a mixed New Zealand and Australian cast and crew,' “The Navigator” will be shot in New Zealand. Post-production work will be done in Australia.
The deal was made pos-; sible by a co-production arrangement between the Australian Film Commission and the New Zealand Film Commission last August Investment in the film is intended to come from Australian and New Zealand sources. “The Navigator” will be made by the New Zealand director, Vincent Ward, who also directed "Vigil,” selected for the Cannes Film Festival competition three years ago. The producer of
