‘The Little Green Grasshopper’

By

DEBBIE WASTNEY,

aged 8

of Nelson There was once a boy called Freddie. Freddie loved to‘go and play next to a pond. One day when Freddie was playing by the pond he found a little green grasshopper. The grasshopper jumped around like a kangaroo. “Come on,” said Freddie, “Come and live with me.”

So the little green grasshopper went to live with Freddie. But something very unusual happened. Freddie’s pet grasshopper disappeared. “Mum! where’s my pet grasshopper?” “Oh I don’t know, he probably jumped out of the open window. Well I hope not.” However the little green grasshopper was on the ceiling changing into a butterfly hopper.

Three weeks passed and the little green grasshopper came out of her cocoon. She had turned into a butterfly hopper. A butterfly hopper is a butterfly with legs and it jumps around. When the butterfly hopper came back Freddie was so happy to see her again. But he stil could not see how a grasshopper could ever turn into a butterfly hopper.
