Peterson hits century
PA Alexandra The opener, Simon Peterson, scored an unbeaten century as the New Zealand under 18 cricket team took charge of its first tour match against Central Otago at Alexandra yesterday. Peterson featured in a 130run first wicket partnership with Chris Harris as the young New Zealanders scored at a run a minute before
declaring at 252 for two. In reply, the Central Otago Übix Cup squad was 124 for four at stumps. Harris was all aggression, hitting 11 fours in his 82, while Peterson, more circumspect, batted for 248 minutes and hit six fours. Mark Lane was out lbw for five but Mark Douglas kept the runs coming, reaching 61 before the declaration.
