Scour export delayed
Overseas flights
A shortage of tally clerks has delayed the export of the largest wool scour built in New Zealand.
The scour was due to leave Lyttelton Harbour on the container ship Auckland Express, bound for Western Australia, yesterday. A shortage of labour and tally clerks, in particular, has meant that the Auckland Express has not been loaded. Mr Jim Doherty, of the Watersiders Bureau, said that there were at least two ships which had loading priority. The Auckland Express might not leave until tomorrow.
The $3.1 million scour was built by the Timaru Company, Annett and Darling, Ltd. The general manager, Mr John Holm, said it was the biggest single contract his company had secured. The scour will be sited in Fremantle for Swan Wools, a part of the large Elders group. ARRIVALS Auckland Express (11 a.m.), 3850, Melbourne (Scales). Kaapgracht (3.30 p.m.), 2391, Napier (Scales).
