Videotex chief
The Videotex Industry Association of New Zealand has appointed the Databank representative, Mr Colin Windsor, as its chairman. He succeeds Mr Jim Hughes, of ICL.
The association is made up of representatives of videotex systems operators, information providers, and equipment distributors.
Mr Windsor is positive about the future of videotex in New Zealand despite some failures overseas, particularly in the North American market.
“Videotex has been accepted as an important information source and interactive medium in corporate offices throughout this country in the last year,” he says. Trading bank videotex users alone have more than tripled, and existing
users were renewing subscriptions and buying into new services.
He predicts subtle changes to current systems including the addition of more ASCII services for uses such as Treasury work stations.
