Raymond Bruce appeals

PA Greymouth Raymond Bruce, the rider of Taimoor, which was relegated from first in the Monteith “1600” at the Kumara Racing Club’s meeting at Kumara on Saturday, has appealed against the decision of the Kumara judicial committee.

Taimoor’s trainer, Brain Ansley, has also lodged an appeal against the decision and both appeals will be held at Omoto on Friday morning. Paul Falvey, the rider of Miss Isabel, which finished second, lodged an appeal against Taimoor on the grounds of interference over the tinal stages of the race. The committee, after viewing head-on film and hearing all relevant evidence, reversed the placings and suspended Bruce for two riding days. The suspension was to take effect from Monday as Bruce had nine confirmed riding engagements for the Westland Racing Club’s meeting at Hokitika.
